play2be.at is an interdisciplinary art project at the interface of popular culture, performance, literature and visual arts. This project is set against the background of the UEFA EURO 2008™ sporting event.
Everyone is asked to build a team and participate in play2be.at.
Up to 11 people, regardless of their age, gender, social background or mother tongue, can build a team and compete.
The challenge is to express the following quote from Robert Musil’s book “The Man Without Qualities” as original and/or as loud as possible.
„...there may be no other way in this world to beautify a thing or a creature than by loving it.“
Every team can choose a language in which to perform the quote.
The choices are: German, English, French, Italian, Croatian, Polish, Russian, Slovene, Spanish, Czech and Hungarian.
play2be.at’s field is a transparent cube located at the Kardinalplatz in the center of Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.
The performances are recorded using a video camera and can be seen at www.play2be.at
Play2be.at will take place from June 7th to June 26th, 2008 from 2pm to 6 pm.
All clips will be evaluated by a jury on June 27th. Subsequently the winners will be announced at www.play2be.at
Every registered player from the winning team in the category of “loudest performance” will receive a watch by Jaques Lemans.
Every registered player from the winning team in the category “most original performance” will receive a weekend trip valid for one person in the region Lieser-Maltatal in Carinthia.
